Who is it for?
This mandatory insurance is for:
Any physical or legal person (excluding the state) who owns real estate built and located in Algeria.
Any property owner (natural or legal person) conducting industrial and/or commercial activities.
What disasters are covered by CATNAT?
This contract covers natural disasters officially declared by the public authorities.
It covers all damage caused by the following events:
- Earthquakes
- Floods and mudslides
- Storms and strong winds
- Landslides
Covered damages
- For residential real estate owners: the obligation only applies to insurance for damage to the property itself, i.e. the buildings.
- For industrialists and merchants: the insurance obligation covers damage to installations (buildings) and their contents such as furniture, equipment and goods.
